Leasing out of the Port property and the Common Amenities to commence the operational activities of the Hambantota Port

- In accordance with the conditions laid down in the Concessionary Agreement singed on the 29th of July 2017 to develop the Hambantota Port by expanding its operational activities under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiative, the Port property and the common amenities should be given over to the Hambantota International Port Group (Pvt.) Ltd. (HIPG) and the Hambantota International Port Services Company (Pvt.)Ltd.(HIPS) on lease basis, in order to commence the operational activities of the Port.

The Lease Agreements pertaining to the lease of the Port property and the common amenities were signed earlier and accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Mahinda Samarasinghe, the Minister of Ports and Shipping, to issue instructions to the relevant State Institutions in regard to the implementation of the Agreements, was approved by the Cabinet.
