Purchase of equipment required for the construction of four New Grid Substations at Nawalapitiya, Ragala, Wewalwatta and Maliboda

- In order to interconnect the electricity generated in the mini hydro power plants with the main electricity transmission system, the Ceylon Electricity Board has planned to construct four (04) Grid Substations at Nawalapitiya, Ragala, Wewalwatta and Maliboda and the related transmission lines. Its construction activities are implemented under 03 packages and under the package 02 of them, the essential equipment are purchased as Lot A and Lot B.

As such, the proposal made by Hon. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, to award the contract for the purchase of equipment under Lot A in package 02 to M/s Siemens Ltd., for a sum of Rs.297.2 million and the contract for the purchase of equipment under Lot B to M/s Ceylex Engineering (Pvt.) Ltd., for a sum of Rs.122.9 million, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.
