Obtaining Specialized Consultancy for the Sri Lanka Police Reforms

- Reforming of the Sri Lanka Police so as to suit the present and future goals is a timely need. A Committee comprising of experts of the relevant field was appointed for the purpose of making recommendations and the said Committee has stressed the need for the transformation of the Sri Lanka Police service into a dignified profession which upholds the principles of Good Governance.

As such, it has been decided to secure the services of an experienced consultant to implement the recommendations made by the said Committee. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Sagala Ratnayake, the Minister of Law & Order and Southern Development, to seek the assistance of the British National Sir Hugh Orde, a British National with vast expertise on Police Reforms, was approved by the Cabinet.
