Hydrology Study - Kalmunai Master Plan Project

- The task of preparing the Master Plan on Integrated Township Development in the areas of Kalmunai and Sammanthurai has been vested with the Ministry of City Planning and Water Supply and the plan is being prepared with the assistance of the University of Moratuwa. For the purpose, a comprehensive hydrological study needs to be carried out. Out of this study, it is expected to create a suitable system to prevent the floods occurring due to the water-logging issue in the Kalmunai area. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Rauff Hakeem, the Minister of City Planning and Water Supply, to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with M/s Hydroinformatics Institute Pte. Ltd. of Singapore, to obtain the assistance of the Institute to carry out the Hydrological Study, was approved by the Cabinet.
