Granting Rs.50,000/- as house rent allowance further for the owners of the houses evacuated due to the Landslide which occurred at the Meethotamulla Garbage Dump

- Under the first and second phase of the housing programme to provide houses for those who were deprived of their houses and the families evacuated from their dwelling houses which were prone to high risk as a result of the landslides which occurred in the garbage dump at Meethotamulla in Kolonnawa on the 2017-04-14, have been provided with houses to 98 families and another 72 families have been provided with alternative houses on 2017-11-08 under the third phase of the programme.

The families were given a monthly house rent allowance of Rs.50,000/- up to the month of August 2017 until they were resettled. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, the Minister of Disaster Management, to grant the house rent allowance for the 72 families who were resettled for the last time for the period of two (02) months up to August 2017, was approved by the Cabinet.
