Construction of the Left Bank Main Canal of the Yan Oya Reservoir Project

- The Yan Oya Reservoir Development Project, which is one of the major scale irrigation development projects implemented in Sri Lanka in the recent times, provides water to around 4,190 hectares of lands in the areas of the Districts of Anuradhapura and Trincomalee faced with scarcity of water for cultivation purposes. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Vijith Vijayamuni Zoysa, the Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Management, to award the contract for the construction of the Left Bank Main Canal of the project, to M/s China CAMC Engineering Co. Ltd., (CAMCE), for a sum of US$ 39.5 million on design and built basis, as recommended by the Cabinet Appointed Negotiation Committee (CANC), was approved by the Cabinet.
