Teledrama, Film and Commercials Levy

- Taking into consideration the impact on the local teledramas and the film industry by dubbed foreign teledramas, films and commercials flowing into the country, it has been proposed in the budget 2017 to increase the 'Teledrama, Film and Commercial Levy' imposed on the teledramas, films and commercials dubbed in sinhala or tamil language.

As such, the proposal made by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, the Minister of Finance and Mass Media, to present the Extraordinary Gazette Notification No.2044/21 dated 2017-11-07 published in terms of the provisions of the Finance Act, No.11 of 2006 amending the relevant levy, in Parliament, was approved by the Cabinet.
