Construction of the Stage - II of the Accident and Emergency Medical Treatment Unit in the District General Hospital of Polonnaruwa

- The District General Hospital of Polonnaruwa is the major hospital which provides patient care services to the people living in the area. As the presently available facilities are inadequate to provide accident and emergency treatment for the patients, the construction of the Accident and Emergency Medical Treatment Unit commenced in the year 2015. As of now, Stage‑I of the project for the construction of two storeys is nearing completion and is about to be handed over.

Accordingly, considering the necessity of commencing the activities pertaining to Stage‑II of the project expeditiously, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, to hand over the construction work to the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau and the Engineering Services (Pvt.) Limited on Design and Built basis, for a sum of Rs.643.36 million, including tax, was approved by the Cabinet.
