Accelerating the Construction and Development activities of the Hospitals

- Considering the need to accelerate the development activities of the hospitals, a proposal has been made to entrust certain construction activities with the Government Construction Agencies, in order to overcome the delays that take place due to the adoption of the General Procurement Procedure. As such, taking into consideration a proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, the Cabinet granted approval to entrust the construction activities of the Oral Health Unit in the Teaching Hospital in Karapitiya, the Specialized Pediatric Ward Complex in the General Hospital in Ampara and the New Building Complex in Ninthavur to the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau and the Central Engineering Services (Private) Limited., and the construction of the six storey building with an operation theatre in the Base Hospital in Horana to the State Engineering Corporation of Sri Lanka, was approved by the Cabinet.
