Export Crops Villages Project

- The Ministerial Committee on Kandy City Development has identified the necessity of utilizing the lands owned by the state institutions situated around the Kandy area which have not been used productively to be made use of for re-cultivation or for ear-marked export oriented purposes.

As such, a proposal has been made to implement a project named 'Export Crops Villages Project'. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Sarath Amunugama, the Minister of Special Assignments and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee on Kandy City Development, to grant an extent of land of 400 acres situated in the Woodside Estate of the Medadumbara Divisional Secretariat Division identified as suitable, to be given on lease basis, under this project to the selected beneficiaries,to provide the necessary technical know how to carry out agricultural activities in these lands and to expand the activities of the project depending on its success, was approved by the Cabinet.
