Amendments to the Debt Conciliation Ordinance, No.39 of 1941

- A proposal has been made to expand the jurisdiction of the Debt Conciliation Board to extend the activities of the board confined presently to Colombo, to other places as well with a view to making use of the Debt Conciliation Board as a more effective alternative mechanism in the settlement of disputes relating to debts and to widen its membership further to stabilize its functions to be productive and also to change the selection criteria. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Mrs.) Thalatha Atukorala, the Minister of Justice, to amend the Debt Conciliation Ordinance, No.39 of 1941 making provision for the said purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
