Translating 'Maha Soopawansaya' into English

- Sri Lanka possess the heritage of a sophisticated food culture inherited from the past and the indigenous food culture seemed to have been greatly influential for the health and well being of the early day society. Deshabandu Dr. T. Pablis Silva has compiled a valuable book on the history and evolution of the food culture of Sri Lanka in collaboration with several academics of the University of Sri Jayawardenepura.

In translating this book into the English language, an opportunity will be created to present to the world the knowledge and the heritage of Sri Lanka possessed in the field. As such, the proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, to secure funds to translate 'Maha Soopawansaya' into English and print 1,000 copies of the book, was approved by the Cabinet.
