Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Switzerland and Sri Lanka on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters

- Cabinet has granted approval on 2017-06-13 to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Switzerland and Sri Lanka on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, with a view to enforcing the laws existing in both countries pertaining to the conduct of investigations on crimes, filing of cases, prevention of crimes and confiscation of money generated from criminal activities. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Mrs.) Thalatha Atukorala, the Minister of Justice, to enter into the MoU for the purpose as agreed at the deliberations between the relevant officials of both countries and to enter into an Agreement between both countries after successful implementation of the same for a few years, was approved by the Cabinet.
