Enhancing the performance of the Department of Government Factory

- The function of the Department of Government Factory is to provide products and services for both the private and the public sector and for heavy structures specially pertaining to the irrigation sector. A proposal has been made to purchase a brand new overhead crane with a capacity of 8 Tons for the Department in order to enhance the efficiency and the production capacity of the Foundry Workshop where the manufacturing of irrigation water management sluice gates, and operating systems and accessories take place.

A proposal has also been made to introduce a software system for Administrative Resource Planning for the improvement of the administrative performance of the Department. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Sajith Premadasa, the Minister of Housing and Construction, to secure the funds necessary for the purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
