Renovation of the unstable Slopes and Landslides along the Upcountry Railway Line
- The National Buildings Research Organization (NBRO) has pointed out the need of implementing a project for stabilizing the landslides prone areas and unstable slopes found along the upcountry railway line with a view to ensuring the uninterrupted and safe operational activities of the railway line, taking into consideration the adverse effects of the landslides which occurred during the past period.

Accordingly, the joint proposal made by Hon. Nimal Siripala de Silva, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation and Hon. Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, the Minister of Disaster Management, for the National Buildings Research Organization and the Sri Lanka Railways to implement the project jointly for the renovation of landslide risk areas and unstable slopes in the upcountry railway line including the improvement of the drainage system giving priority over to the areas between Rambukkana and Badulla, which would span over the next 5 years, was approved by the Cabinet.
