Purchasing Coal for the Coal Power Plant in Puttalam through Spot Tenders

- Considering the requirement of the supply of coal expeditiously to the Coal Power Plant in Puttalam, authority has been granted to purchase the required coal through spot tender procedure subject to the covering approval of the Cabinet and as approved by the Special Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SSCAPC). Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, to purchase an amount of 300,000 MT of coal required for the plant from the Swiss Singapore Overseas Enterprises Pte. Ltd., the lowest substantially responsive bidder, out of the registered suppliers at FOBT price of US$ 87.97 per MT, was approved by the Cabinet.
