Providing a monthly allowance to the elderly citizens over 100 years of age
- The existence of elderly population over 100 years of age is considered a benchmark that reflects a country's development in the field of health. It has been identified that by now around 350 elderly people over 100 years of age live in Sri Lanka.

As such, the proposal made by Hon. S.B. Dissanayake, the Minister of Social Empowerment, Welfare and Kandyan Heritage, to grant a payment of Rs.5,000/- per month for the low income earning elderly citizens over 100 years of age with a view to ensuring the security of their lives, was approved by the Cabinet.
