The Constitution of new Local Authorities

- The approval of the Cabinet has been granted to the criteria prepared by a Committee of Experts to establish new Local Authorities and to upgrade the existing Local Authorities. Based on such criteria, it has been decided to constitute the present Ambagamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha area as 03 new Local Authorities namely Ambagamuwa, Maskeliya and Norwood Pradeshiya Sabhas and the present Nuwara Eliya Pradeshiya Sabha area as 03 new Local Authorities namely Nuwara Eliya, Agarapatana and Kotagala Pradeshiya Sabhas.

As such, the Cabinet took note of the information furnished by Hon. Faizer Musthapha, the Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government, to the effect that action is being carried out to publish the Orders in the Government Gazette dated 2017‑11‑01 for the constitution of all Local Authorities inclusive of the said Local Authorities.
