Awarding of Consultancy Services Contract for Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility Study for the Six Light Rail Transit (LRT) lines in the Western Region of Sri Lanka - It has been proposed to introduce Light Rail Transit lines in order to overcome the existing heavy traffic congestion in Colombo and suburbs and to address the issues related to the public transport system. Six Light Rail Transport Lines are to be constructed in Colombo and suburbs accordingly and this project will be implemented under the Public Private Partnership basis. International Competitive bids have been called to select a consultancy agency to carry out the Pre-Feasibility studies prior to the construction of these six Light Rail Transit lines. Accordingly, bids have been submitted by five International Companies and therefore, the proposal made by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, to award the above consultancy service contract to M/s Seoyoung Engineering Co. Ltd., (SYE), Saman Corporation, Korea, for a sum of Rs 202 million, as recommended by the Cabinet Appointed Consultancy Procurement Committee, was approved by the Cabinet. |
