Development of infrastructure facilities in the Universities

- Considering the necessity of developing the accommodation facilities in the State Universities available presently, the Government has accorded high priority to develop the infrastructure facilities needed in the Universities. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Lakshman Kiriella, the Minister of Higher Education and Highways, to implement the following projects at an estimated cost of Rs.380 million between the period from 2018 - 2019, was approved by the Cabinet.

* Upgrading the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Peradeniya;

* Construction of a 03 storey hostel building for the foreign students studying at the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka in Anuradhapura and upgrading its circuit bungalow;

* Construction of Staff quarters in the Trincomalee Campus of the Eastern University.
