Upgrading of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) Gateway Project

- It has been planned to develop the area adjoining the 18th Mile Post of the Colombo - Negambo road situated adjoining the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) inclusive of transport, business, commercial, leisure and recreational activities. Under Phase 1 of this project, it is due to establish an integrated bus terminal, upgrade the railway station, establish a taxi stand, a touring vehicle stand, banking services, cinema halls, hotels, recreational waterfronts, super market complexes etc. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, to implement the 'Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) Gateway Project', was approved by the Cabinet.
