Providing a Medical, Clinical and Healthcare Service with enhanced facilities for the benefit of Sri Lanka people affected by the Chronic Kidney Disease
- The Chronic Kidney Disease of unknown etiology is currently prevalent in 60 Divisional Secretariat Divisions of 11 districts in Sri Lanka and has the possibility of being spread to other areas as well. It has become a serious community health issue and has created a number of social and economic problems as well. Accordingly, the proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, to implement the following three projects with the collaboration of the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease, the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine and other stakeholder agencies together with the labour contribution of the Sri Lanka Army and the Sri Lanka Navy, with a view to providing a healthcare service with enhanced medical, clinical and patient care facilities for the benefit of the people affected by the Chronic Kidney Disease (with long term haemodialysis, long term peritoneal dialysis and kidney transplant) at an estimated cost of Rs.462.5 million, was approved by the Cabinet.

* Project for the construction of the Kidney Disease Patient Relief Care and Dialysis Centre of Kandy;

* Project for the construction of 'Methsirisevana' Kidney Disease Patient Relief Care and Dialysis Centre of Anuradhapura;

* Project for the construction of the Centre for Education and Information on Social Welfare and Economic Empowerment related to Kidney Disease in Girandurukotte.
