Environment improvement Work of the proposed Multi - Model Transport Centre at Makumbura

- Development activities of the area, associated with Kottawa - Makumbura Interchange of the Southern Expressway are presently being carried out under the Programme for the improvement of the Colombo City Transport Services to transform it into a multi-purpose transport hub to coalesce and meet the transportation needs of commuters and a proposal has also been made to carry out improvements on commercial, recreational and environmental activities to coincide with such development.

Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, to accomplish these development tasks through the Sri Lanka Land Reclamation and Development Corporation by utilizing the funds of the Urban Development Authority, was approved by the cabinet.
