Construction of the proposed Medical Ward Complex at the District General Hospital in Chilaw

- District General Hospital-Chilaw is the largest hospital that provides patient care services to the population of the Puttlam District. Therefore, a proposal has been made to upgrade the medical ward complex of the hospital where 88 beds are presently available, with a view to facilitating a larger number of patients. Accordingly, taking into consideration the need of accomplishing the said task expeditiously, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, to award the contract for the construction of the proposed medical wards complex, to the State Engineering Cooperation of Sri Lanka, for a sum of Rs 583 million, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the cabinet.
