Construction of the Renal Care Unit at the Teaching Hospital in Batticaloa
- Batticaloa District has been identified as a district with a high prevalence of kidney disease. Therefore, a proposal has been made to construct a renal care unit equipped with clinical and laboratory facilities at the teaching hospital Batticaloa, enabling it to supply an easy to access quality care service and identify the disease at its early stage for the purpose of preventing deaths due to kidney diseases.

Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, to award the above contract for the construction of the Renal Treatment Unit to M/s Nuwani Construction (Pvt.) Ltd., for a sum of Rs 383 million, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
