Regulations to regulate Small Commercial Vessels promulgated under the Merchant Shipping Act, No. 52 of 1971

- Along with the growth of the tourism industry, there is a huge trend towards using small vessels for coastal passenger transportation and recreational affairs in Sri Lanka. The proposal made by Hon. Mahinda Samarasinghe, the Minister of Ports and Shipping, to present the Gazette Extraordinary Notification No.2017/31 dated 2017-05-04, containing 'Merchant Shipping (Small Commercial Vessels) Regulations' issued by the Minister of Ports and Shipping, under the Merchant Shipping Act, No.52 of 1971, in order to regularize the registration and regulation of small commercial vessels, in Parliament, for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
