Establishment of Small Scale Solar Power Plants under the Soorya Bala Sangramaya Programme - Phase II

- The Cabinet has granted approval to establish 60 solar power plants of 01 MW under phase I of the Soorya Bala Sangramaya Programme and at present, the evaluation of the proposals submitted in this regard is being processed. The Ceylon Electricity Board has confirmed that an opportunity could be provided for 90 solar power plant projects of 01 MW under phase II of the project.

When calling for proposals from the investors, the proposal made by Hon. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, to review the criteria adopted in phase I of the project and call applications for 90 projects in respect of phase II, with the necessary amendments to create a greater competition, was approved by the Cabinet.
