Implementation of Greater Polonnaruwa Township Water Supply Development Project

- Approval of the Cabinet has been granted to implement 09 water supply projects under the 'Rajarata Nawodaya - Pibidemu Polonnaruwa' development programme. Under one of the sub projects of the Greater Polonnaruwa Township Development Project, additional water supply required for the proposed Heritage City, Commercial City, Administrative City and the proposed Renal Care Hospital is provided by transmitting water from the existing Water Treatment Plant at Gallella.

Therefore, the proposal made by Hon. Rauff Hakeem, the Minister of City Planning and Water Supply, to award the contract of supply, installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical and electronic equipment required for this water supply project to M/s K. P. Projects International (Pvt.) Ltd., at a cost of Rs.154 million, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
