Appropriate Technology Development and Intellectual Property (IP) sharing project (2017) in Sri Lanka
- Appropriate Technology categorized in a place in between high and low levels of technology is an efficient cost effective solution for the developing countries for the upliftment of the living standards of the people and to liberate them from poverty. A project on the appropriate technology development for the improvement of the living standards of the people of the developing countries on intellectual property sharing is implemented by the Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of South Korea (KIPO) and the Korean Innovative Promotional Association (KIPA).

Under this project, a proposal has been made to produce a Coconut Oil Extractor suitable to the country with the use of coconut residue and to implement a project to improve the brands related to the industry. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Susil Premajayantha, the Minister of Science, Technology and Research, to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding for the implementation of the Appropriate Technology Project between the relevant institutions, was approved by the Cabinet.
