Renovation of the religious places damaged due to the earthquake in Nepal

- Sri Lanka provides its sponsorship for the renovation work of the Ananda Kuti Maha Viharaya in Swayamboonath and the Ratho Machchindranath Hindu Kovil damaged due to the earthquake that occurred in Nepal in the year 2015 and the construction work is being carried out at the moment.

The cost of Rs.345 million for the renovation activities has increased due to the amendments subsequently made to the preliminary plan pertaining to such activities. As such, the joint proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena and Hon. Gamini Jayawickrema Perera, the Minister of Buddhasasana, to allocate the additional allocation of Rs.105 million to cover the additional cost, was approved by the Cabinet.
