Presenting the Gazette Notification on Reduction of Excise Duty on Mini Trucks, Single Cabs and Motor Bicycles, in Parliament

- The Government has taken measures to reduce the Excise Duty on the import of Mini Trucks and Single Cabs by Rs.300,000/- per vehicle, in order to support the small and medium scale business enterprises and to create market opportunities for motor bicycles of high quality by removing the ad-valorem rate on motor bicycles with an engine capacity less than 150 cc, to be effective from 2017.08.18.

Accordingly, in order to make provision for same, the proposal made by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, the Minister of Finance and Mass Media, to present the Extraordinary Gazette Notification No. 2032/31 of 2017‑08‑17, published under section 3 of the Excise (Special Provisions) Act, No.13 of 1989, in Parliament, for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
