Upgrading of the Sewerage Systems in the Base Hospital, Kantale and the Base Hospital, Kalmunai North
- Concurrent to the upgrading of Patient care services, it is essential to upgrade the Utility services in the hospitals as well. Disposal of waste water from hospitals to the environment without a proper management results in creating grave environmental issues. Taking the above into consideration, the Government is taking action to upgrade the sewerage systems in hospitals.

Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, to establish a sewerage system for the Base Hospital, Kanthale at an estimated cost of Rs.103.5 million and to construct a sewerage treatment plant in the Base Hospital, Kalmunai North at an estimated cost of Rs.95 million, was approved by the Cabinet.
