National Food Production Drive

- National Food Production programme initiated with the major objectives of limiting the import foods having made maximizing the food production in the country and thereby achieving self-sufficiency in food requirement has received set-backs due to the adverse weather condition prevailed during the last few cultivation seasons. In order to overcome the situation a speed programme named 'National Food Production Drive' has been planned to commence the food production for the 'Maha' Season 2017 - 2018 with a new outlook in collaboration with all Governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations, Farmers community and Public sector.

H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, briefed the Cabinet of Ministers of the Circular instructions issued by the Secretary to the President outlining that special activities to be launched island wide from 06th to 12th October 2017 which is the inaugural week of the Food Production programme, enabling the participation and the attention of all stakeholders in order to ensure the success of the programme.
