Re-calling of Nominations of the Pudukuduirippu and the Maritimepattu Pradeshiya Sabas

- The Local Authority Elections to be held in respect of the Pudukuduirippu and Maritimepattu Pradeshiya Sabas of the Mullaitivu District, in the Northern Province on 17‑03‑2011 had to be postponed due to various reasons and as such, legislative provisions have to be made, to enable the cancellation of the nominations which had been called for, calling fresh nominations and for holding fresh elections under the new electoral system. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Faiszer Musthapha, the Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government, to publish the Draft Bill on Local Authorities (Special Provisions) in the Government Gazette and subsequently present it in Parliament, for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
