The New Bridge Construction Project over the Kelani river - Award of the contract for the construction of the Steel bridge section

- Bids have been called from the local and international contractors for the construction of the Steel Bridge Section to be constructed under Package I of the New Bridge Construction Project over the Kelani river. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Lakshman Kiriella, the Minister of Higher Education and Highways, to award the contract for the construction of the said steel bridge section to the JMT Joint Venture of Japan comprising of M/s. JFE Engineering Corporation, Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. and M/s. TODA Corporation for a sum of Rs.31,539 million, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
