Improvement of the Kaduwela - Athurugiriya Road and the Walgama - Athurugiriya Road

- It has been planned to improve and rehabilitate the road section from starting point to 9.5 km on the Kaduwela - Athurugiriya (B 174) and the road section from starting point to 1.2 km (B 451) on the Walgama - Athurugiriya, utilizing a part of the loan received from the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) for the Western Province Road Development Project. Accordingly, Bids have been called for the said construction work and the proposal made by Hon. Lakshman Kiriella, the Minister of Higher Education and Highways, to award the contract for the improvement and rehabilitation of the said road sections to M/s. Hovael Construction (Pvt) Ltd., the lowest substantially responsive bidder, for a sum of Rs.1,065 million, in accordance with the recommendations of the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee and the Procurement Appeals Board, was approved by the Cabinet.
