Providing accommodation facilities for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

- In order to overcome the difficulties faced due to the insufficient office space in the Republic Building in Colombo 01 where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is functioning at present, it is necessary to obtain an additional space of approximately 30,000 sqft. The proposal made by Hon. Thilak Marapana, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, to have the building adjacent to the Republic Building constructed in the Dutch era and used by the Civil Security Department until recently, renovated by the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB), was approved by the Cabinet.
