Providing of Student Hostel facilities in the Sri Lanka - German Training Institute (SLGTI) in Killinochchi

- The Sri Lanka-German Training Institute (SLGTI) belonging to the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority, situated in Killinochchi was established in the year 2016 and presently, around 200 students follow training courses at NVQ Levels 4,5, and 6. Around 57% of the present number of students are residents of the Districts outside the District of Killinochchi. The hostel facilities need to be improved since the present hostel facilities of this institute are sufficient only for 144 students and is expected to enroll 400 more students to its training courses within this year.

Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Chandima Weerakkody, the Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training, to construct a new hostel building for the Sri Lanka-German Training Institute, Killinochchi, to enable to provide hostel facilities for 400 more students, was approved by the Cabinet.
