Construction of the Renal Care Treatment unit at the General Hospital, Trincomalee

- The District of Trincomalee too has been identified as a District in which the Chronic Kidney Diseases unknown aetiology (CKDu) is widely spread. Hence, the Government is pursing action to construct a Renal Care Unit at the General Hospital, Trincomalee with dialysis, wards, clinic and laboratory facilities for the purpose of identifying this Chronic Kidney Disease at the early stage and preventing the deaths occurring due to same.

The proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, to award the contract for the construction of the Renal Care Unit to M/s. Electro Metal Pressings (Pvt) Ltd., at the cost of Rs.249.32 million, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.
