Hosting of International Conferences relevant to the field of Agriculture

- The Ministry of Agriculture has organized to host two International Conferences in Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Asian Productive Organization (APO), African‑Asian Rural Development Organization (AARDO) and the Centre for Integrated Rural Development for Asia and Pacific (CIRDAP) of which Sri Lanka is a Member.

With a view to reviewing policy programmes and plans required for Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation and developing sustainable development strategies suitable to face Disaster Risk Management in Agriculture and Climate Change Adaptation, the proposal made by Hon. Duminda Dissanayake, the Minister of Agriculture, to conduct a workshop under the theme of 'Disaster Risk Management in Agriculture and Climate Change Adaptation', from 11th to 15th of September 2017 and another International Conference with the objective of gaining knowledge on the safety of major food items found in the global market, new development methods and identifying advanced food safety standards on Strengthening of Food Safety Standards from 31st October to 02nd November in 2017, was approved by the Cabinet.
