Improvement of road infrastructure in the Homagama Region (Tech City)
- The government has focused its attention on the improvement of the Homagama - Pitipana road infrastructure facilities associated with the Tech City Development Plan implemented in accordance with the Western Region Megapolis Master Plan. Under this programme, the proposal made by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, with a view to upgrading the road infrastructure facilities to ensure better connectivity of the transport network, to construct two new roads and to improve three existing roads with a cost estimate of Rs. 3,143 million as given below, was approved by the Cabinet.

* construction of a new access road with four lanes of 6.18km in length from Kottawa to Mahenwatta;

* construction of internal roads of 1.7km in length at the State Universities situated within the Mahenwatta cluster;

* improvement of 8.83km in the Pitipana Thalagala Road inclusive of the Dampe - Pitipana Road;

* improvement of the Uduwana Pansala Handiya Road with 2.9km in length; and

* improvement of access road from Kahathuduwa to Kottawa and up to the Thalagala Junction with 3km in length.
