Providing facilities to carry out the field work of the Forest Department and the Department of Wildlife Conservation

- The Ecosystem Conservation and Management Project (ESCAMP) has been implemented with a view to improving various sensitive eco systems in selected locations for conservation and providing the benefits to the communities living in close proximity to the areas through sustainable management of such eco systems. Under this project, Sinharaja, Nuckles, Kanneliya and Hurulu Reserves and the National Parks of Yala, Lunugamwehera, Bundala, Udawalawa and Galoya will be subject to conservation with also the participation of the people living around them.

Accordingly, the proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, in his capacity as the Minister of Mahaweli Development and Environment, to purchase vehicles required for the field work of the Forest Department, Department of Wildlife Conservation and the Sustainable Development Secretariat with a view to enhancing the institutional capacities of those institutions for the successful implementation of the project, was approved by the Cabinet.
