Implementation of the decision taken for the prohibition of the importation, production and usage of polythene, with effect from 01st September 2017

- The Cabinet decided to implement the decision taken at its meeting held on 2017-07-11 to prohibit the importation, production and usage of certain types of polythene with effect from 01st September 2017 without any change and to appoint a Committee comprising of officials representing the relevant institutions to pursue action to gradually encourage the polythene producers, persons engaged in polythene associated packaging industries and wholesale traders of polythene who will be affected by the prohibition, towards other options.
