The Fourth Asian Electoral Stakeholders Forum - 2018

- 'The Asian Network for Free Elections' (ANFREL) is a Non‑Governmental Organization engaged in the implementation of appropriate programmes and projects to identify and remedy the common election related issues in countries of the Asian Region and to ensure the establishment of the rule of law in such countries. The Election Commission of Sri Lanka has agreed to co‑host the 'Fourth Asian Electoral Stakeholders Forum' in Sri Lanka in 2018, which is organized by the above Network.

The Forum being held in Sri Lanka will provide an opportunity for the public officers and other stakeholders who directly or indirectly involve in the electoral process to enhance their knowledge and skills and also by sharing the experiences of the other countries in the Asian Region to enhance the competencies in the electoral process of Sri Lanka linked with the institutional capacity building to conduct the electoral process efficiently and productively. Accordingly, the proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, to host the Fourth Asian Electoral Stakeholders Forum in Sri Lanka in 2018 and to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding between the Election Commission of Sri Lanka and the Asian Network for Free Elections for co-hosting same, was approved by the Cabinet.
