Granting a house rent allowance of Rs.50,000/- each for the house owners who were displaced due to the collapsing of the solid waste disposal site at Meethotamulla

•- Due to the collapsing of the solid waste disposal site at Meethotamulla in Kolonnawa on 2017-04-14, the families who were deprived of their dwelling houses and the dwelling houses of those faced with a grave threat were evacuated from their residences and by now, 91 families out of them have been provided with alternative houses. A further number of 60 families have opted to get the alternative houses offered. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, the Minister of Disaster Management to pay the house rent allowance of Rs.50,000/- for the 141 families inclusive of the above 60 families, displaced to date, due to the disaster, for the month of August 2017 as well, was approved by the Cabinet.
