Demolishing of buildings, equipment and machinery found in the premises of the Kantale Sugar Industry Ltd

- The Cabinet has granted approval to re‑commence the production activities of the Kantale Sugar Industry Ltd. under a Public Private Partnership which has presently been closed down for a period of nearly 23 years. Bids have been called for demolishing all disposal buildings and selling goods and equipment prior to releasing the premises of the industry. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Gayantha Karunathilaka, the Minister of Lands and Parliamentary Reforms to award the contract to the bidder who offered the highest sum of Rs.540 million as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.
