Guidelines to be adopted when resettling the families displaced due to floods and landslides and the plans to be used when constructing houses for such families
- The Government has initiated a programme for granting houses to the families who were deprived of their dwelling places due to the floods and landslides that occurred in several Districts including Ratnapura, Kalutara, Galle and Matara due to the adverse weather conditions which affected the Island in May 2017. Under this programme the National Building Research Organization has prepared Guidelines and the Housing Plans to be adopted for the houses under construction for the resettlement of the displaced families. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, the Minister of Disaster Management to implement the programme for the resettlement of the displaced families due to floods and landslides in accordance with the said Guidelines and the Housing Plans, was approved by the Cabinet.
