Construction of an Airport Hotel at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA)

- With the objective of providing a better service for the air travellers and tourists, two blocks of lands owned by the the Airport and the Aviation Services Limited (Sri Lanka) at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake was set apart for two investors for the construction and operation of a star class Airport Hotel consisting of a minimum of 100 rooms. However, one of the investors has decided not to proceed with his proposal. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Nimal Siripala de Silva, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation to call for proposals to select another suitable investor to construct and operate a hotel in the said block of land, was approved by the Cabinet.
