Leasing out the Nuwara Eliya Race Course

- The Nuwera Eliya Race Course managed by the Sugathadasa Sports Complex Authority has been presently leased out to a third party for conducting horse-racing activities and the validity period of the agreement expires on 31-12-2017. Horse-racing can be promoted as a sport which could bring about investment benefits by attracting local and foreign tourists and as such, the proposal made by Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara, the Minister of Sports, to select a suitable lessee to lease out the race course for the forthcoming ten year period through the open bidding process, was approved by the Cabinet.
