Printing of school textbooks to be distributed free of charge for the year 2018

- Open bids have been called from the local printers for printing of 18.53 million copies from 285 categories of school text books required to be distributed among the school children during the year 2018 free of charge. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, the Minister of Education, to get the relevant text books printed from the 25 institutions recommended by the Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee, taking into consideration the minimum price, the printing capacity of the bidder and the ability to supply the books within the stipulated period, was approved by the Cabinet.
